Arcata/Eureka adding air service to Portland
PenAir will start providing flights from the California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport to Portland, Oregon, on April 21, joining SkyWest in offering daily service to the area.
The announcement Friday means Humboldt County will have two airlines and two destinations serving the regional airport for the first time in nearly five years. The decision was hailed by community leaders because of the convenience people will have flying from Humboldt County to the Pacific Northwest. The United Express service contracted by SkyWest requires flyers to travel through San Francisco before connecting to additional locations.
“This provides us options,” 4th District Humboldt County Supervisor Virginia Bass said. “When you’re going north right now, you have to fly south to go north. It’ll be nice to have more of a direct route.” Read the full article.
